Four Steps to Planning a Useful Team Building Event
Planning a useful team building event can be a challenge, but these seven steps will help you ensure that your people enjoy not only the right time but also benefit from the ideas and lessons that they can apply in interactions at the job.
Here are your seven steps to plan a useful team development event:
1. Decide what you want to achieve.
This is the most important part of this event: prepare and decide what your team building activities should be as things that can lead your people. Sometimes, you can make some progress by building good relationships with weekly bonding sessions or stress-relieving opportunities that are fun to laugh or study together. But if you don’t have experience facilitating team building activities, or if you want more comprehensive and productive results, consider hiring a team-building coach.
A good team development coach can create cohesion and improve communication within his staff using a series of customized games and challenges. The person must have a lot of energy and focus primarily on experimental training (not conferences) that will provide the conclusions that your group needs!
2. Select the budget and location.
Once you know what you want to achieve on the day of your teamwork, you must decide on the location and budget to ensure that the goal is achieved. If you want to reward your employees for successfully completing a great project, you may want an off-site location. Do you want them to meet and work through personality differences or communication problems? Once you have a goal for the day and a general budget in mind, you can schedule activities for the location that best suits those needs.
3. Schedule the right time.
Employees will always be more receptive to the day of team building activities if they are carried out during working hours and do not interfere with their valuable personal time. When scheduling events, remember your employee’s schedule and other obligations. You can also consider the current calendar or the current project. The best time to “build” your equipment or identify and solve a problem is before the project is executed, or before major changes are made. Many schools look for dates at the beginning of their semester to allow their staff to work better together.
4. Make it special.
A fun and unique experience is the best way to approach your team. Many people are only interested in giving their people opportunities to interact outside the normal limits of their office relationships. Of course, it is valuable to provide a “bonding” experience.
The true “Team Building” implies fun and unique experiential learning activities AND can be used as a catalyst for discussion and knowledge that can be applied to daily interactions to improve organizational culture. Think about the level of interest and physical fitness of your employee when deciding on “fun” activities.
